Awakening

by Clark Little

As we awake from our sleep of millenia, we discover items that no longer fit easily into our previous ways of thinking, of feeling. Perhaps it is our accustomed method to fight dearly for what is so familiar to us. Or, perhaps we can easily dissolve an old mindset — put it on the shelf for a while — as we try the new. Life is about the new; about expanding our experiences and creativity.

I have long felt that my soul is enormously knowledgeable; and holds a seeming infinity of love. Yet that was my soul. I have longed for the permanent conscious experience that I’ve experienced is there. As opposed to here.

Slowly it has dawned on me that ‘There’ and ‘here’ are something I have to bring together. It does no good waiting for Soul to share what it holds. I have to make the conscious effort during my days to know and act as if I am my Soul… as if there were no division… no “me” and “him”.

So, to let that old mindset slip away….

Air We Breathe

Posted by: | Comments (0)

On our walk the other day I was thinking of the marvelous complexity that is the air we breathe; that it is also the breath of Mother Nature, and the breath of every bit of matter on the earth. It is a stupendous complexity of interrelatedness that is ever moving, ever changing, ever life sustaining.

It is common to separate out bits of air and call them temperature, or dew point, or wind…. to spend a lifetime studying those isolated elements. Perhaps a bit like the medical profession… study disease, give drugs. Yet as the health of a being depends on far more than drugs, so is the air far more than the separate elements we classify.

I see the air as an entity in its own right, originating from countless sources, being modified by countless sources; a living being, interacting with all things from the edges of space to the core of the planet. It is an alive and active energy field, this aura of our planet.

When one abandons one’s elements, and ventures to her or his horizons,  then will one begin to comprehend the true interactions of those elements.

“All things share the same breath – the beast, the tree, the man… the air shares its spirit with all the life it supports. “

The Little Wave

Crashing wave on sand

Clark Little's Crashing wave on sand

The story is abut a little wave, bobbing along in the ocean, having a grand old time. He’s enjoying the wind and the fresh air – until he notices the other waves in front of him, crashing against the shore. “My God, this terrible”,the wave says. “Look what’s going to happen to me!”

Then along comes another wave. It sees the first wave, looking grim, and it says to him: “Why do you look so sad?” The first wave says: “You don’t understand! We’re all going to crash against the rocks! All of us waves are going to be nothing! Isn’t it terrible?”

The second wave says: “No, you don’t understand. You’re not a wave, you’re part of the ocean.”       Via Vladimir Prelovac

Winter

Posted by: | Comments (0)

Straight to the depths of winter… temps ranging from 12-32 degrees the last week, with clear skies. It may warm after tonight.

Kat hasn’t quite finished decorating… only 187 trees in the house at the moment. Arrow doesn’t seem to mind the cold; even Malfina [manx] is spending nites in the shed rather than the house, unlike the coldest part of last year. Myself… I have to go in every few hours to warm fingers and feet, as my computer and workshop are in the shed.

Despite the freeze, a california poppy lasted in bloom until yesterday… a potted snapdragon still blossoms outside the shed, also. On our walks, the blackberry brambles are being harvested by the wintering birds.
